Our History

Transformation City Church, formerly known as Destiny Church and Mt. Zion Christian Center, has been a vibrant part of the Rochester community since 1983. Founded by Pastor Bill Bowlby, the church began with humble gatherings at Rochester Township Town Hall, growing steadily with a commitment to the Word of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit.
In 1988, Pastor Rod Marquette became senior pastor, bringing new vision and leadership. Under his guidance, the church met in various locations throughout Rochester, including elementary schools and Salem Road Covenant Church. In 2006, the congregation purchased a 10,000 square foot building on the northwest side of the city, adopted the name Destiny Church, and continued to pursue a life devoted to worship, teaching, and spiritual transformation. During this season, Destiny Church was deeply impacted by the Toronto Blessing and established a lasting connection with Bethel Church in Redding, California.
In December 2020, Pastor Rod retired, and Pastors Adam and Lexie Molina were elected as senior pastors. Having been connected to the Destiny Church family and leadership for nearly a decade, the Molinas brought their experience from River City Church in Bemidji, MN, and a shared passion for equipping leaders and transforming communities.
In 2025, after prayerful discernment, spiritual guidance, and conversations across the leadership team and congregation, the church embraced a new name: Transformation City Church. This change reflects more than a new title—it represents a prophetic calling and renewed vision. While Destiny Church celebrated individual purpose, Transformation City Church signals a mission to bring transformation to our cities, region, and the world. As a people committed to encountering God, equipping the saints, and transforming the world, our story continues to unfold as we seek to release the Kingdom of God in every sphere of society.
From our beginnings as Mt. Zion Christian Center to our current season as Transformation City Church, our history is marked by faithfulness, growth, and obedience to God’s calling. We are grateful for the legacy of the past and excited for the future, as God continues to write our story of transformation and impact.
